What an exciting time for the Northside Center! Since opening our doors in August 2020, and with each passing year, we have welcomed an increasing number of new clients in need of our services. Currently, the demand for our prenatal/parenting courses in our Earn While You Learn program is skyrocketing as women are choosing life and want to be equipped to provide the best care for their babies. The positive impact on our community is evident and uplifting. We are honored to be the safe, caring, confidential place women can turn to in this critical moment in their lives.
In addition to all this, we recently renovated our Center! We are grateful to have opened an additional counseling room, added three new office spaces, and renovated the volunteer office space. Most exciting of all? We have opened another weekly shift to provide more support and assistance for our clients!
Prayer is foundational for our Center. As we prepare to open each shift, we are blessed to have several pastors who alternate coming to the Center to pray with us. When our pastors come to pray, we feel a powerful, positive change and are encouraged as we prepare to serve our clients. It’s also a palpable reminder that we are a part of a community that is spiritually united in fighting for LIFE!
Life for Baby and New Life for Mom!
Siria started coming to our center in December 2022. Although she was excited to learn about her pregnancy, she was also very nervous. She immediately signed up for the Earn While You Learn program to help her prepare for motherhood and faithfully attended each of her appointments. The more Siria came to the center, the more we could see her nerves about motherhood dissipating.
In a moment that changed everything, as Siria and her client advocate were discussing her spiritual walk, Siria decided to give her life to Christ and received Him as her Savior! We were honored to celebrate not only the new life growing inside her but also her own new life in Christ!
Several of our volunteers hosted a baby shower for Siria and collected gifts from individuals who heard about her story. A few weeks later, one of our partner churches also hosted a beautiful baby shower for her! It was amazing to witness this outpouring of love.
Since Siria’s daughter Cehlani’s birth, Siria has continued to mature and thrive. She will start training for a new managerial position at her workplace soon and also recently enrolled in college. It has been a pleasure to walk alongside Siria. She said:
“I am so grateful for this program as it helped me when I needed it the most.”
We are proud of Siria and know her future is bright!
Volunteer Spotlight
Peggy Norman, Client Advocate
Peggy (pictured middle) signed up to volunteer with us in October 2019 in anticipation of our center opening the following year. She has been a faithful volunteer, and our clients love her! She is a retired nurse, and her love for people shows each time she is here. Peggy has such a servant heart that she now volunteers with us twice a week and is even willing to help us with outside yard work as she enjoys doing it. We are grateful for her dedication and support of this ministry.
